SA therapist shortlist — sites we can build (2026-07-30)

Second pass on the SA therapist/psychologist market, extending the 2026-07-21 scrape (which covered CT / JHB / PTA / Centurion / Durban). This pass does two things:

1. Re-verifies the July shortlist live — three claims had gone stale (below).
2. Extends into the regions and niches July missed: Gqeberha (PE), Bloemfontein, Winelands (Stellenbosch / Somerset West), Mbombela, Polokwane, Ballito; plus play-therapy and counselling-psychologist niches.

16 new sites fingerprinted + 14 July leads re-verified = 30 assessed. Every platform claim below comes from real evidence (response headers, <meta generator>, markup fingerprints, TLS handshake behaviour) — never from the domain name. Reusable script: scratchpad/fingerprint.sh (transport, platform, viewport, © year, funnel, free-mail).

Method caveat: on WordPress/Wix pages the phone regex picks up junk from inline CSS/JS. Phone numbers below are only quoted where confirmed from page copy.

🌱 Greenfield — practitioners with no website at all

The July pass only looked for bad sites. The bigger seam is practitioners with no site, who rent their entire online presence from a directory. Confirmed this pass:

• Somerset West play-therapy cluster — Gerda Kriel (clinical, infant/maternal MH), Lizelle Fryer 🎓 (ed-psych, children + families), Elretha Bartlett (counselling, sandplay/expressive arts, EN+AF), + Heloise Breytenbach-Uys, Elana Rocher. Presence = Psychology Today + TherapyRoute profiles only, no own domain found.
• Stellenbosch — Juhanné Britz, Marie-Louise van Heerden, Karin Gerber, Dr Jana Lazarus (play therapy; PT listings only).
• Bloemfontein / Free State (via Mental Health SA directory) — Marja Reid 🎓 (ed-psych, +27-51-4303121), Dr Barbara Burnell (clinical, +27-83-2635982), Marietha Ackerman (+27-51-4445283), Dr Ronel van der Watt (+27-51-4019682), Dr Edwin du Plessis (Brandfort). Phone-only, no site listed.
• Mbombela — Siphiwe Educational Psychologist 🎓 — Facebook page only.

⚠️ Website absence is inferred from directory listings + search, not exhaustively proven — re-check each before outreach; some may have a site that simply doesn't rank.

Why this segment is strong: they already pay ~R199/mo to Psychology Today ZA (the anchor in PRICING.md) for a profile they don't own, can't brand, and that ranks the directory instead of them. There's no incumbent site to displace and no "I like my site" objection — the pitch is own the asset you're already renting, which lands directly on the R2,500 solo build + R550/mo care tier already set in PRICING.md §5b.

🎯 The play

1. Lisa Dales first (Durban North) — the only confirmed live technical break left: HTTPS handshake dead, so browsers warn on her practice. Concrete, urgent, non-insulting opener, and the physioscpt playbook applies verbatim.
2. Kelly Jacobs second — 503 for 9+ days. Her site is simply gone. Fastest "let me just rebuild it" conversation available.
3. Edith Buchanan third — the best craft before/after in the whole pipeline (<font> tags → Berlein-grade), and © 2026 proves she cares about the site.
4. Extend the ed-psych cluster to 4 provinces. July's cluster was CT/PTA/Paarl only. Adding Asnath Mojapelo (Limpopo), Paula Steyn (Mpumalanga), Tammy Styles (KZN), Natalie Sadie (Winelands) + greenfield Lizelle Fryer / Marja Reid makes it ~10 near-identical prospects for one template and one before/after. This is the same repeatable pitch, not new work.
5. Open a greenfield track. Different pitch, cheaper build, no displacement — and it sidesteps the "my site is fine" wall that killed most WEAK rows.

POPIA, standing rule: therapist enquiries carry health information. Every form must deliver to the practitioner only — never copied to Daniel's Discord. Same constraint as berlein and nadiaoedpsych.

Honesty notes

• SSL is not the differentiator this market. Across 30 sites only Lisa Dales (broken) and Kelly Jacobs (503) are genuinely broken. Dominant pain is stale platform + free/ISP email + no owned intake form — Gmail/Outlook/vodamail on a professional practice is the single most common tell.
• Firecrawl was unavailable for this pass. Its images had been evicted from zulzi-gpu by an earlier disk cleanup, and the re-pull failed twice — first on IPv6-unreachable to CloudFront, then on systemd-resolved DNS timeouts inside the box (127.0.0.53:53 i/o timeout). Done via WebSearch + WebFetch + curl instead. Psychology Today ZA and therapist-directory.co.za both bot-block plain fetches, so the greenfield cluster is directory-derived rather than scraped — Firecrawl would harvest those properly and is worth fixing before the next volume pass.
